Welcome to OKGooberNation!

Hello everyone and welcome to the GooberNation.  The purpose of this blog is to look at the specific policies and issues surrounding Oklahoma politics and public administrative issues.

I will be positing on a number of topics in the upcoming months focusing on the 2014 Oklahoma gubernatorial election.  I am going to profile the candidates, talk about important issues, and look at the platforms each candidate will be running on.

I hope to make this blog easy enough (and entertaining enough) for those who are not getting their master's in political science (or public administration) to be able to follow and understand.  It is my hope to create a viewership that is more engaged and informed for reading.  I also plan on digging deep, so politicos fear not, this is a place for you as well.

So join us on this adventure, will you?

Thanks for continuing after the jump.

For full disclosure, I must inform you that I am not a journalist and will not be attempting to be fair and balanced.  I am a student at the University of Oklahoma in the Master of Public Administration program (with an emphasis in public policy).  I will be looking at the policies and platforms of each candidate and if one is better for the State, I will not hesitate to inform you of this and blast the other for the rotten thing it is.

Also, for the fall semester of the 2014-2015 school year, this blog is being kept as an independent study project for class entitled, "New Media in the Electoral Process."  I am receiving a grade on this project.  I feel for full disclosure, I should state that plainly.  At this time, this is a project being kept for hours earned towards a master's degree.  There, I said it.  After the fall, my aim is to keep going.  Once the new governor is elected, the OKGooberNation will not cease to exist.

Shortly I will begin by posting some quick bio information on Governor Mary Fallin (R-OK) and Representative Joe Dorman (D-OK) and a little on their basic platforms.  Then, I plan to look at militarization of the police and school shelters as both are timely issues.  After that, the road has not yet been decided.

If as a faithful reader and participant, if you have any suggestions for topics, feel free to leave them in the comments below.  Or, better yet, continue the discussion on the Facebook Group.
